Mr Goldstein took up the role of Global Chair for CLIA in January, having previously served as Chair in 2015 and 2016. He has been the Vice Chairman of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd since May 2018 and has had past roles at the group including President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer.
Mr Goldstein is one of the giants of the international cruise industry and has been a key figure at Royal Caribbean for more than 30 years. His experience and insight into the evolution of the global cruise sector makes him an incredible asset to CLIA and his address at Cruise360 will be an unmissable opportunity for our region’s cruise community.
Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection President & CEO Ellen Bettridge will tackle the impact Generation Z travellers are having on travel agent community.
Ms Bettridge has been President & CEO of Uniworld since August 2016 and has held past senior executive roles at Azamara Club Cruises and Silversea Cruises. She also spent more than 20 years at American Express in roles including Vice President of Retail Travel.

Cruising newcomer Virgin Voyages will make its first appearance at Cruise360 Australasia in August, as President & CEO Tom McAlpin explains how the line has prepared for an “epic sea change” in the cruise industry. Tom will address the local industry as part of the conference theme #NextGeneration, just months ahead of the launch of Virgin’s first ship Scarlet Lady.
Virgin Voyages’ entry to the cruise arena was a sign of the industry’s rapid evolution, and Tom’s appearance will provide the Australasian travel community an opportunity to hear about the new cruising demographic Virgin Voyages has identified and the process it went through to target that emerging market. Virgin has promised an epic sea change and a very different kind of travel experience, so this will be chance to hear about how new cruisers can be discovered and enticed in an increasingly diverse industry.”
Prior to leading Virgin Voyages, Mr McAlpin was President & CEO of The World, Residences at Sea. He was previously part of the Disney Cruise Line founding management team and President.
Expedition cruise specialist Aaron Russ has been sailing to remote locations since his childhood and will join a panel discussion on the current revolution underway in shore excursions. Aaron is the General Manager of CLIA Executive Partner Wild Earth Travel and has led more than 100 expedition cruises over the years, giving him unique insight into the most engaging natural experiences on offer in this booming area of cruise.
In her capacity as Executive Director of ID Tours New Zealand, Debbie Summers has strong key relationships with the vast majority of the world’s cruise companies.
In addition to being responsible for the Cruise Department of ID Tours NZ, Debbie is also the Chairman of Cruise New Zealand which is the voice of the New Zealand cruise industry, sits on the Board of Tourism Industry Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest independent association that represents all sectors of tourism and is Vice-Chair of The World’s Leading Ground Operators
Sandy Haberman is General Manager, Airline & Cruise at Sojern. Sandy joined Sojern seven years ago to help launch the cruise, airline and tour operator verticals in North America, working closely with clients to provide guidance and solutions for their online marketing initiatives in an ever-changing marketplace. Sojern combines Sandy’s love of travel, online media, and a consultative approach to partnerships.
With more than 20+ years of online media experience, Sandy has led the sales efforts at ShermansTravel Media as VP of Advertising to help brands further grow direct online bookings and acquisition efforts. He also served as VP of Advertising at Cruise Critic, with the focus of increasing direct bookings and brand visibility for the cruise lines to both seasoned and first-time cruisers.
Sandy will provide facinating insight into inbound and outbound AUNZ traveller trends, the power of traveller audience insights to help better inform marketing strategies as well as highlights from Sojern’s State of the Industry Report on the Cruise vertical and AUNZ region.
As Destination Director for Carnival Australia, Michael has responsibility for shore excursion programs across the key Australia and US-based brands in the corporation which operate in the Australia / Asia Pacific / Indian Ocean region including India, Arabia and Africa. Apart from tour product development he additionally plays a role in developing new destinations, contributing to itinerary planning and working on special projects in both new and established destinations in partnership local communities, NGOs, local business partner and government stakeholders.

Phil was instrumental in setting up the inaugural AFTA (Australian Federation of Travel Agents) Training College, and was National President for six years. During this period, Phil consistently promoted the professionalism of the travel industry in Australia and, in conjunction with his peers in the UK and USA, lobbied airlines and wholesalers alike to work together to raise the levels of integrity and credibility for the travel industry globally.
In 2013 Phil was named as a Member (AM) of the Order of Australia for “significant service to the travel and tourism industry through contributions to professional associations and the development of training standards”.
