The Speakers and Panelists are always a highlight of Cruise360 Australasia and 2019 will not disappoint. In addition to a array of local cruise experts including cruise line execs and travel agents, as always Cruise360 will welcome an outstanding selection of international guest speakers to share their insights and knowledge of the evolving cruise industry.
We are thrilled to confirm that CLIA’s recently appointed Global Chair, Adam Goldstein, will be among key speakers at this year’s Cruise360 Australasia conference.
“Adam Goldstein is one of the giants of the international cruise industry and has been a key figure at Royal Caribbean for more than 30 years,” said CLIA Australasia Managing Director Joel Katz. “His experience and insight into the evolution of the global cruise sector makes him an incredible asset to CLIA and his address at Cruise360 will be an unmissable opportunity for our region’s cruise community.”
Mr Goldstein took up the role of Global Chair for CLIA in January, having previously served as Chair in 2015 and 2016. He has been the Vice Chairman of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd since May 2018 and has had past roles at the group including President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer
Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection President & CEO Ellen Bettridge will tackle the impact Generation Z travellers are having on travel agent community.
Ms Bettridge has been President & CEO of Uniworld since August 2016 and has held past senior executive roles at Azamara Club Cruises and Silversea Cruises. She also spent more than 20 years at American Express in roles including Vice President of Retail Travel.
The new generation of young travellers is redefining the way we plan, shop, buy and experience travel. Generation Z are not only reinventing travel for themselves, but also for other generations who are taking their lead and pursuing a more individualised and connected experience when they cruise. What does this mean for the travel agent community?
Cruising newcomer Virgin Voyages will make its first appearance at Cruise360 Australasia in August, as President & CEO Tom McAlpin explains how the line has prepared for an “epic sea change” in the cruise industry. Tom will address the local industry as part of the conference theme #NextGeneration, just months ahead of the launch of Virgin’s first ship Scarlet Lady.
“Virgin Voyages’ entry to the cruise arena was a sign of the industry’s rapid evolution, and Tom’s appearance will provide the Australasian travel community an opportunity to hear about the new cruising demographic Virgin Voyages has identified and the process it went through to target that emerging market. Virgin has promised an epic sea change and a very different kind of travel experience, so this will be chance to hear about how new cruisers can be discovered and enticed in an increasingly diverse industry.”
Prior to leading Virgin Voyages, Mr McAlpin was President & CEO of The World, Residences at Sea. He was previously part of the Disney Cruise Line founding management team and President.
The cruise industry’s key annual forum Cruise360 Australasia will embrace the worldwide revolution underway in shore excursions, with Holland America’s Robert Morgenstern confirmed to join international speakers at the August event.
Mr Morgenstern is the Senior Vice-President of Port Operations and Shore Excursions for the HA Group of cruise brands, which includes Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, Seabourn and P&O Australia. His responsibilities cover more than 10,000 unique shore excursions offered on 45 cruise ships worldwide, as well as operations at more than 600 ports in 135 countries.
Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia Managing Director Joel Katz said Mr Morgenstern would participate in a panel discussion on the topic of “Reimagining Shorex – the increasing demand for authentic and engaging experiences”.
“Cruise passengers are increasingly looking for experience-led options and are demanding more immersive and authentic shore excursions,” Mr Katz said. “Robert will be able to provide insight into how cruise lines are evolving their excursion offering in response to this, and what it means for travel agents as they cater to their clients’ tastes and passions.”
More information about our exciting line up of Speakers and Panelists will be announced shortly.
